Appalling Conditions for Fleeing Christians

Eritrean Christians fleeing persecution often face appalling conditions in Egypt, according to a report on the Christian Today website. The report cites The Barnabas Fund as saying that Egypt is the most common destination for Christians escaping from Eritrea, one of the most hostile countries in the world for believers. The Eritrean government sees Christians and evangelicals as a threat to national security because of their allegiance to God over the state. Persecution intensified after an Eritrean governor ordered a purge against Christians at the end of 2010. “The suffering of our brothers and sisters from Eritrea is unimaginable,” said Dr. Patrick Sookhdeo, international director of Barnabas Fund. A Bit More Persecution

Here's a dual entry: "Persecution" as well as "You Gotta Be Kidding Me!" departments. A Christian GP who discussed his faith with a patient is facing disciplinary action and could even lose his job. Dr Richard Scott, one of six Christian partners at Bethesda medical centre in Kent, says he has discussed his faith with patients “thousands of times”. But the General Medical Council claims that by talking about Christianity Dr Scott distressed one of his patients, and risked bringing the medical profession into disrepute. Free Speech Eroding for Christian Students

"Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted."  — Lenin "Teacher sayin', Can’t be prayin', says it's against the rules. We're free today in the USA, but not here in my school." — Morgan Cryar, " Pray in the USA " Buona sera. If you are interested in my occasional links and such about the persecution of Christians, they will continue. After all, persecution, discrimination and so forth not only continues, but increases. The first leader of the Soviet Union knew the value of shaping a child's mind. The history of atheism and brainwashing by atheistic indoctrination in the USSR is well known, so I do not need to give you a history lesson now. Secularists, "Progressives", so-called humanists, atheists and cafones of that ilk have been working to undermine the Christian values and education in America for decades. I remember hearing a pastor in the small

Christians Slaughtered in Nigeria

Image
While many in Nigeria were still celebrating the victory of Christian presidential candidate Goodluck Jonathan, Christians in northern Nigeria were grieving over the mass graves that would be the final resting place of their loved ones. Shocking scene of carnage in Nigeria International Christian Concern (ICC) is reporting that in the Muslim north, Muslim mobs reacted to the news of Goodluck’s election on April 18th by launching massive simultaneous attacks against Christians in almost every northern state. The mobs massacred hundreds of Christians, torched more than 300 churches, and destroyed countless Christian homes. Read the rest of the article here .

Persecution

Buon giorno. Wow, look at this! Persecution of Christians may be banned ! Oh, wait — April 1988, Gorbachev was in power in the Soviet Union. "Mistakes made with regard to the church and believers in the 1930s and the years that followed are being rectified. Our newspapers and magazines write about this with candor and objectivity," he said. In his first formal reception of Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch Pimen, Gorbachev also said believers "have the full right to express their conviction with dignity" and pledged the state would not interfere, according to the official Tass press agency. Yeah, sure. It's on the books to have freedom of religion in post-Soviet Russia, but who reads the books ? Sure, it's not as intense (right now) as in atheist and Islamic countries, but persecution still exists. And I wonder with the way that atheists and "humanists" keep challenging to interfere with the free exercise of religion in America

A Few More Persecutions

Buon girono. As much as I dislike interrupting your Christmas festivities, I want to lay out some timely information (cause in part by listening to Crosstalk America ). My Christian readers should be made aware of what is happening in the world; we should be informed, lean to deal with situations as well as pray about them. Unbelieving readers... well, I take a bit of  pleasure in showing you that, despite your desire to dismiss and disbelive these things, they are still happening nonetheless. First, Dr. Gaskell is suing the University of Kentucky because he claims that his faith cost him a job. (You'll be surprised that my reference is the New York Times, even they seem to think that the story has merit.) Do you want to scream, "Separation of church and state"? OK. Here is the state making it a point to suppress religious expression. The Federal Reserve ordered a bank in Oklahoma to take down crosses, Bible verses and Christmas buttons. From the "Don't Me

March of the Gaystapo

Edited for clarity Here is an edited version of a letter I received from a homosexual man: I know you've done some stuff on this recently, and I know this goes on around the world far more than most people would admit. But can you believe this one? I find it difficult to get my head around this in a country with one of the longest Christian traditions. If lefties are looking for oppressed people to defend, Christians should be at the top of the list these days. And I absolutely despise the type of "activists" quoted in this story. No wonder so many people think of gay people as abnormal when virtually all of the "spokespersons" spout this loony PC crap. Damn it I hate it! ... But this bigotry against committed Christians is just too damn much . And the excuses, good grief! "If she goes to church every Sunday, it may impact on the amount of child care she can give." Idiotic. They sound like a loving family, yet they're painted as

Persecution Question

Here is some interesting timing. I did my last article about the persecution of Christians in the US military, which was a sort of follow-up to this one . I received an interesting comment on that earlier post from Whateverman (hope you don't mind your name in lights, so to speak): By all accounts, Christians outnumber other religious demographics in the US. If you're right, and anti-Christian discrimination gets less coverage than that of other groups, wouldn't you think this is at least part of the reason? It's difficult to cry "discrimination!" (and I'm not accusing you of doing so here) when the discriminated group is in the majority. My response was to the effect that it's not just people who claim to be Christians that receive discrimination or forms of persecution, but those who actively live like followers of Jesus. An interesting coincidence, later today, Ray Comfort posted an article at Atheist Central that also addressed this topic

Persecution in the Military?

Yes, I am putting a question mark on the title of this one. I would like to hear from you about what I am about to relate. (If you are going to fire off anti-God or anti-Christian venom, you'll just be deleted.) I am especially interested in the opinions of military personnel, past and present. There was a story I heard about how "the armed forces confiscated the Bibles of soldiers in Afghanistan and burned them". I hate sensationalism, so I had to check it. There is an element of truth to this, but... In 2009, a soldier received Bibles that were printed in the two most common Afghan languages and, being evangelistically minded, was going to hand them out. Those are the Bibles that were confiscated and burned , even though the story I heard implied that the personal possessions of soldiers were taken away, and that is not the case. The reason these were taken away is that the US military did not want to give the impression that they were there to convert the Muslims.

Persecution Shuffle

Blessed are ye when men hate you, and thrust you out of their company, and rail on you, and abhor your name, as an evil thing, for the son of man's sake. Rejoice ye then, and be glad: for behold, your reward is great in heaven. After this manner their fathers entreated the prophets. (Luke 6:22-23, Tyndale-Coverdale Bible, modern spelling) Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus, must suffer persecutions. (2 Timothy 3.12, Tyndale-Coverdale Bible, modern spelling) Buon giorno. That's right, it's not easy to be a follower of Jesus. You want easy? Be a piece of deadwood and float with the current. Still waiting for input on text size and colors, gang. Subscribers are stuck, they get what the service sends them. Sorry. Almost Inconceivable

Yes, I do know what that word means. But anyway, I've been mulling over some comments by hardhearted people. One was at Atheist Central. I had made a comment about Christians being persecuted , tortured and murdered by the millions, and that it is still going on today. A loser said (paraphrasing), "Good, they deserve it because of all the wars they caused." Aside from being utterly and totally ridiculous (yes, and stupid, we did establish earlier that some people are, indeed, stupid), it was amazingly heartless. I should not be surprised at this atheist "morality", but still, the suffering and murder of innocent people should not be applauded. Another thing that grinds my gears is the way people excuse, ignore and basically brush off the persecution of Christians: Other people are persecuted too, it's not happening here &c. Oh, please! My purpose in my articles ( here and here ) was to raise awareness, especially for other Christians, of w

More Persecution Information

The other day, I asked Christians to pray for the persecuted church and to get informed about what believers around the world are enduring. Some of us in America have persecution, but frankly, it is child's play compared to what happens in China, North Korea, Iran , India and other areas. I've been listening to Crosstalk podcasts (thanks to a tip from Silly Goose ), and on Monday, November 15 , they were discussing the persecuted church. This was with someone from Open Doors , another organization that ministers to, and gives information about, persecuted Christians. There are tens of thousands of Christians persecuted primarily for being Christians (although sometimes ethnic persecution is another part of the problem). Of course, there are always losers that have to mock. After all, there is no widespread persecution for jerks, atheists, leftists, Muslims, communists or others. Give a listen to this — person — who called into the show: Heartless loser. As far as I'm con

Pray for the Persecuted Church

"Muslim people of Russia...all of your mosques and religious places were being destroyed during the reign of the Czar...From today your beliefs and ideals will prevail and should remain free forever." — Vladimir Lenin, 1917 Several countries in the former USSR were Muslim. Since Islam flourished under Soviet rule (Lenin wanted to destroy Christianity and the Jews, not Islam), Muslim governments reign in several of those countries today. As a result, persecution of Christians is widespread. Naturally, Christian persecution is still rampant in atheist regimes as well. Lenin declared that "The church is dead" in 1923. Instead, the church is very much alive, and Lenin has gone to meet the Maker that he claimed did not exist. Sunday, November 14, 2010 has been designated as a day of prayer for persecuted Christians around the world. I urge you to see what is happening in the rest of the world. Unnatural Living

The cruelty of atheism is hard to believe. When a man has no faith in the reward of good or the punishment of evil, there is no reason to be human. There is no restraint from the depths of evil that is in man. The Communist torturers often said, "There is no God, no hereafter, no punishment for evil. We can do what we wish." I heard one torturer say, "I thank God, in whom I don't believe, that I have lived to this hour when I can express all the evil in my heart." He expressed it in unbelievable brutality and torture inflicted on prisoners. — Tortured for Christ, by Richard Wurmbrand , p. 36, describing some of the tortures he endured from Communists in Romania because he was a Christian We hear so much about "natural" living. Put the word "natural" in the name of a product, triple the price and you have a sale. Just about anything can be had that is natural and/or organic. Taking a Stand

Sure, so many people like to complain about their troubles and "persecutions". But how many have actually been tortured because they dared to take a stand for the truth? Richard Wurmbrand took a stand for Jesus thirty years ago, when Romania was still a communist country. Here is a free book: Click here to order a copy (USA only). Other countries can try Amazon.com. It can be purchased outright, but I saw "other sellers" starting at one cent. You can also see videos presented by Wurmbrand's ministry, "Voice of the Martyrs", on YouTube.
