Camels, Anti-Bible Prejudice and Media Hysteria

Image
You'd think that National Geographic would learn about hastily publicizing bad science after the Archaeoraptor fraud . But no, they had to jump on the anti-Bible bandwagon and do what "skeptics" often do: Rush to proclaim that the Bible is wrong. In this case, the claim that the Bible is wrong about camels in the early days. This kind of assertion has been pulled before and primarily based on incomplete evidence. In this case, the biases and assumptions are added to the façade of scientific research through carbon dating. Archaeology students in Tel Aviv did the "research". Like Bill Nye's attacks on creationists, they ignored existing research that was readily available. This story was picked up by the Institute for Creation Research , Creation Ministries International and Answers In Genesis , (among others) who have provided some valuable information. Despite the efforts of "skeptics" (I put the word in quotes because so many people ...

Atheism, Movies, Genesis and Money

Image
It appears that David Silverman of the American Atheists is getting bent out of shape regarding the Genesis 3D  movie. According to The Christian Examiner , he said, "As we have seen in nearly every religion in world history, indoctrinated victims of religion will do anything, including pay large sums of money, to have their antiquated beliefs of immortality validated." What's wrong with doing a fundraiser for a project someone believes in ? Anyway, with his silly rant, I would have dismissed him and moved on. After all, it's absurd to claim that you are celebrating "reason" when using question-begging epithets, prejudicial conjecture, fallacious assertions and simple bigotry. Next!  But wait. Jason Petersen of "Answers for Hope" likes to get into the philosophy aspects of Silverman's remarks. In fact, he is offering him a chance to discuss his atheistic worldview. As most of you know, I, as well as Answers for Hope, have throw...

Creation: Science and Theology

Image
Also posted at "A Soldier for Jesus" and at "Evolutionary Truth by Piltdown Superman". Buon giorno . This is a different kind of article for me, because it was a new experience. I pestered Chris Date to let me be on his " Theopologetics " podcast to talk about creation science. He was interested, and said he had someone else in mind so that all three of us could do the podcast. This would be great in the lead-up to " Question Evolution Day ". It was scheduled several weeks away. We got the outline of questions he was going to ask, and shared it online to create our responses. Finally, the evening of February 7, 2012 arrived. This was my first conference call on Skype, and only about the fifth time I've used it at all, so I was a bit awkward with it. Chris is experienced not only with technological things, but able to develop the interview questions to bring out the strengths of his guests. He is also serious about theology itself, and ta...
