Basement Cat Thanksgiving

Image
'Twas the night before thanksgiving, and all through the place — Prowling, pacing, restlessness, midnight howling. Mix, match and repeat as needed. Our Basement Cat's Sooper Sniffer ® was in high gear, even though the turkey was thawing in the refrigerator. When the bird was finally in the oven today...oh, boy. Well, she wants her share now. My wife can't begin to eat until yon beastie is taken care of: The cat even taps on her arm and nuzzles. Hurry up! And... was the smell of turkey the cause of all the restlessness? We think so. An hour later: Cuteness and contentment. And snoring. Ever hear a cat snore? Happy Thanksgiving!

A Nemesis for Basement Cat

Did you think that Basement Cat's only nemesis was Ceiling Cat? Or my Bible? Really? I don't think so...

Strange Searches: Bad Movie

Image
Again, maybe I'm being set up and someone is snickering about it. I've left obvious set-ups behind, but this one caught my attention because it sounds like a bad move. So, maybe it's real, maybe not: By the way, the searcher landed on this page , so the search term was validated in a way.

Unbelieving Funnies

The good ones (the polar bear, Spock and the dorky cat) were made by Kirk (The Captain). "...because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse." (Romans 1:19-20, NASB)

Greater Ambition to Question Evolution

Image
Buon giorno. The "Question Evolution Day" project is now more ambitious. It is now " The Question Evolution Project ". Yes, we're still going to be heard on February 12 (Darwin's birthday), but the page at Piltdown Superman and the Facebook Page are resources to encourage and provide information for those of us who do not think according to the dictates of others. We think for ourselves, capice? I've got some bad news for you, Sunshine, evolution is a bad philosophy. And no, it's still not a place for atheists and evolutionists to badger creationists and ID proponents. Troublemakers get banned. Bwahahaha! Click for larger Basement Cat

Video - Basement Cat for Halloween

Image
Buon giorno. Although I've been making some videos, I still feel strange calling them "videos". They are modified slide shows, sometimes with scrolling text. Still, it's technically a video... Oh, well.

Ella? I'm Not Past That!

Buona sera. This hurts me more than it hurts you. Literally. Typing is painful right now, and I'm stopping frequently during typing. I had several things in mind to organize and begin writing over the weekend, but something stopped me: Pasteurella . Basement Cat got a little too excited the other night during our roughhousing, and she gave me a bite. Well, those almost-hypodermic syringe teeth got into two veins on the top of my hand. I rubbed alcohol lotion on it and went about my business. I awakened at 02.00 in pain, and frankly, quite alarmed. There are infections that people can get from cats, and my tetanus shot was out of date. The next morning, I went to the local urgent care facility (less expensive and less busy than a hospital emergency room, but not open 24/7). The medic told me that I had a pasteurella infection. Eighty percent of cat bites are likely to get infected, and mine was a deep one. Since I am not able to take penicillin, the preferred treat...

I really like this one. Note the "Search Words" that brought my visitor:

Picking on the Cat

Image
OK, so the last one is a little off-color. Big deal, it's a cat . A cat that is on my bed! (Ironically, the book you can see at the top right of the picture is by Ray Comfort.) Basement Cat (also called "Pay Pay", but that is not my idea) likes to lay on her back, and is showing off after getting a haircut. Someone told me that laying on the back is a sign of trust, or contentment. I have lived with cats off and on for most of my life and never seen that behavior before this one came along. So many of my articles come from springboards in my daily experience. Several times, I have marveled at the responsibility that pet owners are accepting. This is a living thing , and it's life is in your hands. (If you drop a domesticated creature off in the wild, so help me ...) I had some rats for a while. Their lives were literally in my hands, and they were trusting me not to squeeze too hard or do some other unthinkable thing. "Gentleness" has been defined...

Evil Came to Visit

Image
Buon giorno. First of all, time for a confession. Despite all of my tough-guy image and experiences, I'm a fan of LOLcats. Especially the "Basement Cat" legend that has been created. For reasons I will not get into, I had to put up with evil in my own home. This is a long-haired black 'n' evil Basement Cat that I knew before. And dafter than a brush. This prissy beast comes over to me and gets loving and all. Fine, pet the cat, I'm fond of cats. Most of the time. Later on, I get the wide-eyed stare, and the beastie runs from me. The old "I'll hide under the bed but leave my tail showing" trick. So, I did the thing we used to do: Touch the tip of the tail with my stocking foot. What do I get? Hisssss! Looks like playtime has changed for Miss Priss. ...
