Benjamin Franklin and Religion

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen Here in the United States, and to some extent in other parts of the world, there has been considerable debate about the religion of the Founding Fathers. While the majority of them could be considered fundamentalist or evangelical Christians by today's standards, a few were Deists. Secularists who attempt to rewrite history somehow try to make it seem that the appearance of these Deists negated the fact that America was clearly founded on Christian principles .  There are different stripes of Christians, Buddhists, Mohammedans, atheists, and other religions. Indeed, even within certain sects and denominations, you will find variations. This includes Deists. I've encountered deists who want to join in with misotheists in slapping leather with Christians, and others who are more moderate. Like other groups, there is no "one size fits all" for Deists. Benjamin Franklin / Joseph Wright, 1782 Benjamin Franklin was unarguably one of the m...

Evolution and the "Separation of Church and State"

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  Actually, the title of this post is slightly inaccurate. It's actually more like "Evolutionary thinking and the so-called 'wall of separation between church and state'". A story I like to tell is that I was in a discussion with someone on this: Me: The constitution says that the church shall be separated from the state, and the school from the church. He: Right. Me: That's the Soviet constitution. He: Wait... There's your problem, Hoss. People in this country have been beaten over the the head with the separation thing so often that they actually believe it's in the United States Constitution. It's not. It was in a letter from Thomas Jefferson to Baptists in Danbury, Connecticut. They were worried that they'd lose their freedom of religion, and Jefferson reassured them that they have nothing to fear about the government establishing a particular denomination. Nowadays, secularist sidewinders will use ...

Will Discrimination Against Christians Increase in the USA?

Image
Although some people deny the facts, the truth is, there is discrimination and persecution of Christians around the world. In some places, especially those run by atheist and Mohammedan regimes, it is severe. But even in the west, where civilization was built on Judeo-Christian principles, persecution is increasing. Will the European level of discrimination happen here? It very well could. We see it happening with anti-Christian organizations, the loud, detested minority, getting weasel activist judges to go against the wishes of the majority. Political correctness and "tolerance" are attempts at stifling free speech, after all. The news that the government of Great Britain is mounting a full-scale assault on Christians is not really surprising.  The left-wing in England, like their counterparts on the European continent, have long discriminated against Christians, while at the same time, in myriad ways, protected those of Muslim faith.  For much of his 3 years in ...

Free Speech Eroding for Christian Students

Image
"Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted."  — Lenin "Teacher sayin', Can’t be prayin', says it's against the rules. We're free today in the USA, but not here in my school." — Morgan Cryar, " Pray in the USA " Buona sera. If you are interested in my occasional links and such about the persecution of Christians, they will continue. After all, persecution, discrimination and so forth not only continues, but increases. The first leader of the Soviet Union knew the value of shaping a child's mind. The history of atheism and brainwashing by atheistic indoctrination in the USSR is well known, so I do not need to give you a history lesson now. Secularists, "Progressives", so-called humanists, atheists and cafones of that ilk have been working to undermine the Christian values and education in America for decades. I remember hearing a pastor in the small ...

The King of America

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen "We recognize no Sovereign but God and no King but Jesus." — John Hancock & John Adams I really hate to break this to you, but America was founded upon Christian principles. OK, I'm messing with you; I do not hate to break it to you! Image source: US National Weather Service One aspect of the "progressive" agenda in its quest to eradicate religion from life is to rewrite history. They attempt to minimize the words of the founding fathers in several ways: They claim that statements attributed to the founders were taken out of context They claim that the founders were "Deists", as if to minimize (or neutralize) their remarks They claim that if the founders really did say those things, they were afraid of being ostracized (what a joke to anyone who knows anything about the character of these men) They claim that the quotes were never really said at all "I conceive we cannot better express ourselve...
