After the Computer Crash

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  Hopefully, my experiences both before and after the crash may prove helpful to some folks. Here is what happened. In July 2020, I decided to replace my Windows 7 computer. That underrated eMachine was a workhorse, and I asked a lot by simultaneously running programs that were heavy on resources, and I ran some at the same time. It was showing its age, so I was proactive and replaced it with an Acer Aspire TC-885-UA92 Desktop. Pixabay / Gerd Altmann Not a bad price, and it had a DVD ROM. Yes, some of us still need those things. Don't be a tech snob. Gave it a bit more RAM, and I was off to the races. Important Computer Precautions Yeah, some race. I had to learn how to use Windows 10. Fortunately, I have experience with computers, including Windows all the way back to Win95 (not much with Vista, and I utterly detested Win8 on my wife's laptop). Since I already have a Microsoft account and know some of the basics of operating systems, getting online was n...

A Look at the 4K YouTube to MP3 Downloader

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen Tweaked 7-19-2021  There is a scene in Young Frankenstein where Frederick, descendant of Victor Von Frankenstein finds a book titled How I Did It. I would like to make a video of How I Do It for some behind-the-scenes material for my work at The Question Evolution Project and the main site, Piltdown Superman , as well as some of my other sites. One aspect of this is the posting of videos. I am reluctant to do like some other Pages and throw links at people without previewing the material. Since I have a day job doing data entry work, I do not have all that much time for watching videos — and my eyes get mighty tired. Fortunately, I can listen to all sorts of audio material while working. But what's this cowboy supposed to do with all those videos? Who wants to stare at a screen for a long interview, debate, or lecture? There are some online sites that convert them from video to MP3, but some of them no longer function and others will not convert any...

What Do You Have In Your Head?

Frankly, too many people have horse apples for brains. Why do you think that is? To misuse a verse in the book of Proverbs, "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he". What are you putting into your head? Crap? Well, plants need fertilizer to grow with, but your mind is not a plant. My father was fond of saying that your mind is a garden. Plant thought seeds, water them and see what grows. If you plant good seeds, you get good results. The opposite is true as well. I tend to think that the mind is more like a computer. Any programmer knows that a computer is only as good as its input, which is GIGO: Garbage In, Garbage Out. Also, you need to have good programming in the first place, or even the best input will give bad results. Too many software vendors do not test their products thoroughly and rush it to market, and then have to issue patches and revisions. A simple way to show this is when you use a search engine. If you want to know the annual rainfall of Monterosso al Ma...
