Why Become an Atheist?

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  The Bible says you're a fool if you claim that God does not exist (Psalm 53:1 ESV). (And none of that nonsensical redefinition of atheist to "someone who lacks belief", that's not the established definition , old son. I lack belief in a universe without God.) God isn't just being insulting, but let's face it, you may be brilliant in comparison to other people, but in comparison to God , you're nothing. More than that, the word translated "fool", נָבָל, is not just lacking intelligence, but someone of low character that mocks God.  Hold on there, Pilgrim! Don't get the bit in your teeth and think it's all right to go wild by calling every atheist you meet a fool. See the first part of the verse? Although it applies to those who deny God's existence, there are Christian fools as well ! That's right. Christians profess to know God, but some think that they can get away with sin and defy him; they a

Strange Searches: Atheists Are Idiots

Image
April Fool on me, the auto-post failed. This was scheduled at 12.01 AM Eastern Time. "Now you're just being downright nasty! As if telling the truth is bad enough, now you're doing name-calling!" Simmer down, Selma. It's one of the search terms in my site meter that shows how people came to my site. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a set-up and someone is laughing because I used it, but big deal. For me to use a broad, sweeping generalization that "all atheists are idiots" because I thought the ones I met qualify for that classification would be to commit a hasty generalization fallacy . Further, to call someone an idiot is erroneous in the first place. Although the meaning has changed over the years, at one time, it meant that someone had an IQ of about 30, and a mental age of a three-year-old or less. It is no longer used as a designation. Now it is just a way to call someone stupid. But I digress. When looking at groups of people, you g

Eviscerating Atheopathic Objections Again

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen Modified 4 July 2022 In previous years, I had a stalker who was a gold mine for bigotry and logical fallacies. Since he was repetitious and desperate for attention, I decided to instead utilize the abundant resources on teh interwebs. This next furious atheist is another clinquant example of what atheism does to the mind. Background image credit before modification: Supposed dark matter ring in galaxy cluster Cl 0024+17 Hubblesite (usage does not imply endorsement of site contents) This article is going to be a bit tricky to write, but I reckon that I can skip some material and let you catch on, plus give you relevant links. Let me start with some background. A troll Page shares material from Christians and biblical creationists for the purposes of ridicule. I have never seen a cogent argument from the owner or from his adoring fans. Lots of mockery, straw man arguments, the genetic fallacy, and other typical fare from atheopaths, sure. Also, when he is

He is not Saying Trump Likes Nazis, but — Yes He Is Saying It

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen Revised 8-10-2019 Leftists are running around saying that Donald Trump is a Nazi, calling him Hitler or fascist, saying he wants people dead, and other foul things. Hypocrites! Nazis are socialists, which is what many on the left are embracing. Try to get them to define fascist and you are unlikely to get an intelligent reply. They are like other people I could name, screaming something, no matter how stupid, just to provoke negative emotions in others. Concentration camp image credit: Pixabay / Jacek Abramowicz I keep saying that one reason I encourage spotting basic logical fallacies and engaging in critical thinking is not just for those of us who promote biblical creation science and apologetics. Rational thinking is applicable in many areas of life. Try it with politics. I've seen bad arguments on television between leftists and Conservatives and wanted to tell them both to shut up because they were doing it all wrong. We can understand peopl

Atheism, Mental Health, and God

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  It seems that every day has been designated as a national or world day for an observance, whether to "raise awareness", celebrate, or something prosaic. October 10 is World Mental Health Day. Fine, I reckon it is a good idea to point out that millions of people have mental health issues. Many are simply things we just learn to deal with, others are debilitating and need counseling as well as medication. Several times, this child has admitted to dealing with depression. Everyone probably has it to some degree on occasion, and other times it is a lifelong struggle due to chemical imbalances in the brain. My hypertension medications contribute to it. People in the Bible were troubled with depression. My photo of the Hudson River, the Rondout Lighthouse is very small on the left side Some of those problems were short-term based on circumstances, others seemed to be lifelong. David wrote some psalms showing his depression over events and his own sins, and E

Climate Change Activists Reject Reason

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen While the majority of climate change activists have little or no knowledge of science and "think" with their emotions, there are scientists involved. Apparently some of them are feeling lower than a snake's belly in a wagon wheel rut. They have some blamestorming to do, but they're looking in the wrong direction. As I pointed out in " Climate Change and Ignored Truth " , secularists have a passel of presuppositions, including materialism, an old earth, evolutionism, and if there is a God, he is not in control. They appeal to emotions, not facts or logic , and trot out pawns like Greta "How Dare You!" Thunberg to throw kerosene on the fire. (Some of us don't take none too kindly to manipulation, you savvy?) We see that their predictions over the years have all failed , and some are so far away that those who made the alarmist claims will all be taking dirt naps before they can be criticized. When people get all he

Mock a Holy Book and See What Happens

Image
Despite their claims to "lack belief" in God, skeptics (that is, hate-filled mockers) will troll and attack anything Christian because they know what the Bible teaches about how Christians are supposed to respond to our enemies. These blatant hypocrites do not dare to give Mohammedans the same treatment, probably out of fear for their lives. Mock Mohammed, burn a Koran , and people die. And yet, Western governments keep on coddling the "religion of peace" instead of taking action and telling them to act like the civilized people that they pretend to be. But I'm digressing a bit. Contrast the fear of violence from Islam for almost any slight, large or small, real or imagined, with Christianity. Although dishonest misotheists portray us as unkind when we stand up to their bullying, there is no reasonable assumption that their lives are in danger from us. So, they mock. A play called " The Bible — The Complete Word of God (Abridged) " is a flat-out

Important Recommendation for Healthcare Providers

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen Even before the COVID-19 crisis, there is something very important, very basic, and what should be very simple for healthcare providers to utilize that should make receiving payments more efficient. Although we are going to consider HCFA (pronounced HICK-fuh) forms, the principles apply to others as well. As providers, you want to be paid, right? Image credit: Freeimages / Adam Ciesielski overlaid with partial HCFA form The HCFA 1500 form was designed for Medicare and Medicaid. It is used for other claims as well. Many providers use software to fill out the forms, but a large number are filled out by hand. You fill them out and send them off to the insurance company, and most of these are scanned using OCR software so those of us behind the scenes can use our software to correct OCR errors. Then claims examiners can make sense of them and you can get paid. Nobody needs faulty submissions and delays — especially during a pandemic. There are several e

Keeping My Wife at a Distance Online

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  Although nobody asked and I am under no obligation to explain myself, I will anyway. In several places, I have mentioned that I have a wife. (At Piltdown Superman when I'm writing in my cowboy character, I do not.) However, I never named or described her. The reason is quite simple: atheists and leftists. On more than one occasion, I have been physically threatened by them, especially angry misotheists. This only happened online, but some have stated they wanted to come over here — especially because I staunchly present creation science. Charlene at Niagara Falls in 2007 (?) EDIT: It occurred to me later that I left out a secondary factor. Years ago (and I am leaving off the sequence of events that led me to my reluctant conclusion), I could not have a Fakebook account under my real name. Apparently atheists in power there kept deleting my accounts, so I became someone else. She didn't call me by my real name when I was using that account. Although I la

Browsers, Privacy, and Research Part 3

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen Here is the final article in the trilogy. The first part was an introduction , then the privacy and other things were discussed in the second part . Now it is time to examine a few extensions (also called add-ons) that this cowboy has found helpful for productivity and security. Credit: FreeDigitalPhotos /  dfrsce It doesn't take an architect to add extensions since other people did the construction. Finding them is not much of a challenge, but loading good ones requires discretion. They can easily be added onto the browser's structure. Sometimes, too easily. Once again, I must point out that I am writing about my experiences using a Windows 10 desktop computer. Do my experiences and learning qualify me as a "power user"? Some Extensions can be Harmful Yeah, get the caution out there before discussing what I am using. I was unable to learn how many extensions are available for Firefox, but there are quite a few . Most people use browser extensio
