Running the Big Story Too Soon

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen The news media tend to get pieces of information, jump the fence, and gallop for the open prairie. Or to their editors so they can get a story published. They know that people go wild with partial information and rumors, so the media keep doing it. Especially the liberal media. Credit: Unsplash / rawpixel "Trump may cancel the 2020 elections!" Oh, shut up. Some of us are intelligent enough to know that's not possible. You're an insult to humanity, Skippy. It's nice when some restraint is used and we're informed that a story is developing, or "preliminary reports indicate..." and so on. People like to get all het up, don't they? Especially leftists, who have protests, smash windows, overturn cars, set dumpster on fire, and that sort of thing. Even when they have no idea what it's about. Here's a short video I made from audio of The Chris Plante Show , excerpting the July 24, 2018 episode . A cra

Still Waiting for that Next Ice Age

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen Before I get to the subject of this article, a bit of (mostly) unrelated fun stuff. Did you know that YouTube has quite a few big-name movies and television shows? We can only guess if they reverted to public domain (some have), or the copyright owners really do not care that movies like Seven Days in May (1964, Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, Frederic March, Ava Gardner, and other big stars) are free to the public on YouTube. Someone mentioned a video that seemed interesting, so I tried something. Using my Android smart phone and the YouTube app, I found the video. Then I used the connection to send it to my new friend, Roku , so I could watch it on the television device. Worked mighty fine. Apparently, since the phone and Roku are on the same WiFi network and don't have to be in the same room, the phone doesn't act like a server, so I'm not losing much battery power. When the video was over, it began to advance to the next one in the playlist on

Zuckerberg, Hate Speech, and Congress

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen Mr. Markie Goes to Congress As you probably know, Facebook is having some difficulties. Because of the data scandals, their stock is plummeting , and people are quitting it — including Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak . Do some searching for "reasons to quit Facebook", and you'll see that warnings are not only sounding now, but have been for years. He offered his standard apology, but people are not expecting much. It didn't mean much before, after all. via GIPHY Mark Zuckerberg had himself a little discussion with the US House and Senate. It's not just about selling information, but about discrimination, censorship , and hate speech. Fazebook has a reputation for allowing terrorist speech ( here is one report ), then they get on the prod and slap down non-leftists ( here is an example , his campaign was "shocking and offensive"). Two black women (I know they're two black women, they keep telling us this) who go by

Roku Is My New Friend

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen Like many other people in these here United States, we became tired of the ever-increasing prices for cable TV, and decided to join the "cord cutters" revolution. This is the streaming video thing happening. We did not even know it was such a big deal! Cable Itself Became Expensive Sure, cable television is very useful, especially for specialized channels or for people who live in areas that do not have over-the-air broadcast variety of availability. The biggest complaint is that prices keep going up. Another complaint is that you can get hundreds of channels but nothing to watch, or the same movies on several channels. (Satellite TV is not an option for us, and that has its own set of problems.) We started with the company of many names, one of which was Time-Warner Cable. We got the package of three services that had phone, high-speed internet and television. Prices kept going up, and when Charter Communications bought Time-Warner Cable, it b

Congress, Atheism, and Reason

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen Jared Huffman, a Democrat Congressman from California, recently "came out" as a Humanist. There is no appreciable difference between Humanists and atheists, though some theists call identify as Humanists because they have a low view of the Bible and elevate humans to the highest priority. Huffman does not go on record as endorsing atheism, but says he does not believe in God. He seems to be politically timid, keeping mum about his beliefs for years (atheists generally do not get elected). He felt he had to finally admit his views. The Democrat party has a disdain for God and the Bible, and Huffman believes in homosexual "rights", he is pro-abortion, and just what you'd expect from a leftist in general. Identifying as a Humanist, or atheist (or maybe he'll change to agnostic), should fit in well with the current political climate. I want to interject something here. Atheists are materialists, rejecting God and the supernatural (

Grief and Pain from the Texas Shooter

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen This article contains a time-sensitive link that may expire soon, at which point, it will be deleted. The murders of people in Sutherland Springs, Texas, has stirred many emotions. Grief, pain, anger, and others. It has also raised questions about how a loving God could allow this, what were the motives, and just...why? We will never have all the answers tied up in a neat package. We can find some of them. Credit: Pixabay / MissSuss At this writing, the motives are not known. I'm not going to varnish this, we already know that the killer was a seriously disturbed, violent atheist . Some are saying the motive was because of a domestic situation, others say "unknown" and "uncertain". The rampage may have been far worse if the shooter was not interrupted by the heroic actions of Stephen Willeford . If the motive was due to hatred of his mother-in-law, he could have killed only her elsewhere. The fact that he did this rampage duri

Leftist Science Industry Rejects Research On Motherhood

Image
Science is supposed to be a search for knowledge, with scientists considering evidence, proposing hypotheses, then running them up the flagpole to see if anyone salutes them. When ideas are refuted, they accept the changes and try something else. Problem is, that scenario is fictitious. (For that matter, when people claim that "science has proved" something are showing their ignorance of the philosophy and methodology of science .) Scientists, medical doctors, and others have refuted consensus views and been resisted. For example, Ignaz Semmelweis demonstrated that the mortality rate of women giving birth could be drastically reduced with antiseptics , but he was ignored by the establishment. Sara and Her Mother with the Baby , Mary Cassat, 1901 Scientists and the secular scientific establishment seem to be increasingly biased nowadays, especially to viewpoints propagated by leftists . Something that is in opposition to the Bible is celebrated, even when they try to sla

Can Secular Science Peer Review be Repaired?

Image
There are people who consider peer review as the gold standard in science, and it is somehow a guarantee of truth. Not hardly! As we have seen, the secular science industry is becoming increasingly biased and involved in leftist political activism . Add to this the fact that their peer review process discriminates against creationists, has numerous retractions, passes junk (including computer-generated papers ), and is pretty much a good ol' boys' club. Their image has a bad complexion , and some scientists are calling for major changes. Made at Hetermeel.com , then modified with colors Unfortunately, the sidewinders in charge want to circle the wagons and maintain the status quo. They don't want transparency and accountability. Others want to improve ethical standards. Wait, what? People who reject the Creator and his Word have no consistent moral standard are going to decide what is right and wrong? Scientists are people, complete with presuppositions, knavery, a

Clinton Richard Dawkins Deplatformed in Berkeley

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen One of the high priests of atheism is C. Richard Dawkins. (His tinhorn fans consider themselves "New Atheists", but the only thing "new" about them is their extreme hatred and intolerance, dishonesty, lack of thinking skills, redefining "reason" and "rational" to mean "naturalist" and "atheist". Background image of shattering atheist symbol courtesy of Why?Outreach They are  detestable to the rest of the American population . (I reckon professing atheists of yore would be embarrassed by this lot.) Atheopaths rally behind Dawkins since he gives a façade of intellectualism, although atheism cannot withstand true logic. To put it another way, he's considered brilliant by people who already hate God and are digging up excuses to justify their rebellion against their Creator. Dawkins is angry, hypocritical , and mean-spirited in general, but is surprised that people do not like him . In the formerly

Secularists Protect Evolution from Thought

Image
Evolutionists are on the prod again . A bill was proposed in South Dakota that required...what? What was in it that would cause such distress? Maybe if the bill required the teaching of Intelligent Design, or even biblical creation science, and exclude evolution. That'll be the day! Actually, the "problem" with the bill is that it promotes critical thinking instead of blind acceptance of evolution, so flaws in evolutionary speculations should be made known. Generated at Glass Giant The secular science industry has been getting more political nowadays, with a distinct leftist bias . But Machiavellian approaches to evolutionary education have been happening for some time now — it's acceptable to deceive students for the sake of believing evolution. Critical thinking is unacceptable (as is free speech when contrary to leftist causes, atheism, and evolutionary thinking). Unfortunately, true science thrives on critical thinking and challenges, and free speech is a
