Morality and the Crowd

Image
The source of morality is disputed among secularists, some claim that it comes from evolution, some say it is based on society, some postulate other sources. People who have a materialistic view of morality cannot  have a consistent moral standard, and end up with disastrous speculations  when they suppress the truth. Riot in the Galleria , Umberto Boccioni, 1909 I reckon it should be common sense that you can't follow the crowd. (Isn't following society's dictates a form of just "following the crowd"?) I don't like crowds, you never know when they can get mean. Things get out of hand, next thing you know, the saloon's ceiling is shot full of holes, the town marshal and his buddies show up, and guys spend a few nights in lockup, even after they get sober. Individually, if you asked these rambunctious patrons about right and wrong, they'd have told you differently than what they did that night in the saloon. Those jaspers knew better than to get r

Fake Science: Canaanites and the Bible

Image
When it comes to sensationalistic fake news that denigrates the Bible, the secular science industry is relentless. Ever see those documentaries that crop up around Christmas and Easter where producers round up unasinous liberal scholars to malign the Bible? Not only do they ignore conservative scholars and focus on the odd ones, but stories like the tomb of Jesus and so on are discredited or forgotten. This bit of disingenuous journalism is of the same pathetic caliber. But I forgot, lying is in the nature of secularist leftists. Mostly made at Image Chef Those of us who actually believe the Bible and know about how it has been supported time and again through history, science, and archaeology have to endure the constant attacks on the Word of God. It's one thing to disbelieve and offer arguments or evidence as to why not, but it's another to act like an evolutionary scientist that makes up his or her own "facts", and ignores pertinent data. What really takes t

Induced Morality

The public has a strange relationship with the secular science industry. Some adore it and put their unquestioning faith in it (Scientism), such as I saw years ago in response to a question: "Scientists will come up with a pill for it or something". Others have a mixture of trust and increasing suspicion, especially since the secular science industry has been betraying that trust . Now there's speculation that morality could be done by ingesting certain chemicals. Made at  Custom Prescription Maker This should raise alarm among thinking people: whose  morality? Most likely, it would depend on those in power. Atheists and other secularists have no consistent foundation for morality, and some seek it through evolutionism . Some owlhoots believe that they are doing good when they are doing evil. As a Bible-believing Christian, I do not want secularist "values" shoved down my throat — which could happen literally. We often take pills to feel healthier, to e

by Cowboy Bob Sorensen For Question Evolution Day , I reckoned I'd point out a major bit of weirdness that anti-creation tinhorns saddle up and ride. I've seen many logical fallacies that they use, and try to not only watch my own reasoning, but encourage Christians and creationists to learn about fallacies as well. This is to keep us from getting intimidated by bullies, but also to be more accurate in our own presentations and discussion. Many fallacies can be grouped together in the "red herring" category. That is, they're distractions. The ad hominem is the staple of atheists, saying things like, "You're stupid for believing in God and creation". Maybe I'm stupid, and my mother dressed me funny, too, but what does that have to do with the article's content? Another is the "straw man", where people put words in your mouth or otherwise misrepresent your position. "Hasty generalizations" are popular among atheis

Evolution and Other False Salvation Efforts

At first, I didn't have any ideas for something to write for the 8th anniversary of Stormbringer's Thunder. A spam comment at The Question Evolution Project , some podcasts that I heard while working, and ideas came through my mind like stampeding cattle spooked by lightning. —Cowboy Bob Sorensen Have you ever watched the TV show Restaurant Impossible? Chef Robert Irvine revamps failing restaurants and gives the owners new hope for success. He often has to not only deal with bad management (and frequently, bad food), but attempts to fix relationships as well. Many of the restaurants succeed, but there are quite a few that still fail or get sold . When I watch the show, I get to pondering on how the agreements and plans are akin to New Year's resolutions. The root problem still remains. People get involved in "12 Steps" recovery programs that have a pretense at Christianity, but actually give a false gospel . We have bad feelings, so a shrink gives us medicat

Fools on the Wrong Road

Image
"Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it." — Matthew 7.13-14 There are two kinds of fools that I want to deal with today.  Atheist Fools April 1, so it is Atheists' Day (Psalm 14.1). They are on the broad highway that leads to destruction, but suppress the truth of the God they know exists.  This was on a Facebook Page that was set up by atheists to mock and blaspheme (click for larger): My reply was comprised of the references and text of Prov. 26:12, Rom. 11:33-34, Isaiah 55:8-9, 1 Cor. 2:14, Jer. 17:9, 1 Cor. 1:19-20, Psalm 14:1, Rom. 1:18-22, Phil. 2:9-11. Naturally, the response was ridiculed. This guy proved God's Word right again (and blasphemed further). People like this want us to reject God's written Word and embrace their false god, which

Conflation and the War Between Science and Religion

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen Back when I was giving talks on creation science, I used what has become a very popular quote by an atheist: ‘Christianity has fought, still fights, and will continue to fight science to the desperate end over evolution, because evolution destroys utterly and finally the very reason Jesus’ earthly life was supposedly made necessary. Destroy Adam and Eve and the original sin, and in the rubble you will find the sorry remains of the Son of God. If Jesus was not the redeemer who died for our sins, and this is what evolution means, then Christianity is nothing.  — G. Richard Bozarth, ‘The Meaning of Evolution’, American Atheist, p. 30. 20 September 1979. The way I study on it, this quote would have been mostly forgotten if biblical creationists hadn't lassoed it and kept repeating it. "Why do you people keep repeating it, Cowboy Bob?" Thanks for asking. We repeat it because it's right. Vituperative and biased, but right. This was bac

Atheists and Anti-Creationists Crazy from the Hate

by Cowboy Bob Sorensen Edited 10-14-2014. The inspiration for this article is backwards. I saw a rant in an inconsequential forum by a vituperative but unimportant atheist. Then  I read the article on one of the sites I subscribe to that brought his childish "you deny evolution and billions of years, so you're a liar" reaction. The article in question is by former theistic evolutionist Dr. David Catchpoole of CMI, " Faith can move mountains (but it can't change history) ". He wrote a short article about the global Genesis Flood from his biblical creationist (young earth) perspective, and was given an ad hominem  attack for his efforts by the aforementioned atheopath. Dr. Catchpoole gave links in that article to some of the science articles supporting the Genesis Flood, but the critic did not seem to be interested in reading or responding to those.  The uneducated atheopath railed against Catchpoole, displaying his inability to distinguish between a
