St. Patrick's Tree

Image
Buon giorno. It's St. Patrick's Day. Today's post will be a partial repeat of my Valentines Day post so I can give new readers the background information. You know that I've gone on about how Christmas trees are being called "holiday trees" by the touchie-feelie politically correct crowd, even though it's not fooling anybody; we all know what those trees really are , and what they're for. A few years ago, I was listening to Glenn Beck on the radio. He was making "holiday tree" remarks that I thought were spot on. Essentially, they ran like this: "We have our holiday tree that we keep up all year. On President's Day, we hang dollar bills on it, and we decorate it for...", and he kept going with a few other humorous quips. So, a worker in the local eatery put up a St. Patrick's Day tree just like she did for Valentines Day: Yep, she's doing a real "holiday tree". She gave me permission to take a p

Persecution

Buon giorno. Wow, look at this! Persecution of Christians may be banned ! Oh, wait — April 1988, Gorbachev was in power in the Soviet Union. "Mistakes made with regard to the church and believers in the 1930s and the years that followed are being rectified. Our newspapers and magazines write about this with candor and objectivity," he said. In his first formal reception of Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch Pimen, Gorbachev also said believers "have the full right to express their conviction with dignity" and pledged the state would not interfere, according to the official Tass press agency. Yeah, sure. It's on the books to have freedom of religion in post-Soviet Russia, but who reads the books ? Sure, it's not as intense (right now) as in atheist and Islamic countries, but persecution still exists. And I wonder with the way that atheists and "humanists" keep challenging to interfere with the free exercise of religion in America

Contrasts

Edited 4-14-2011, deleted video. Men are superior to women on account of the qualities with which God has gifted the one above the other, and on account of the outlay they make from their substance for them. Virtuous women are obedient, careful, during the husband's absence, because God has of them been careful. But chide those for whose refractoriness [stubbornly disobedient] you have cause to fear; remove them into beds apart, and scourge them: but if they are obedient to you, then seek not occasion against them... ( Koran, 4.34 ) Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her ... So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies ; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord [does] the church.  ( Ephesians 5:25, 28-29 NKJV) Buon girono. Ignorant and dishonest people complain that the Bible is "sexist"

This is the hateful source piece I thought I would correct some lies in the original and have some fun with it.  By the way, the real original source for the picture is here .

Unconscionable

Tweaked for wording later that same day. Buon giorno. How low can you get? Norman the irrational, hate-filled troll made a remark to another irrational, hate-filled troll , completely off topic for the purpose of taking a cheap shot at yours truly, or will leave comments on Weblogs when I am not the topic of conversation . (I think he's still angry that I am his intellectual superior. But that is not a difficult accomplishment worth my bragging about.) Anyway, I get that. Being attacked, having petty Weblog articles written about what a bad man I am &c. is all a part of the territory.  The screen shot below has one typical lie from Norman, that I am "unable to talk about non-Christians without venom". Readers with any degree of intelligence know that I have referred to and conversed with non-Christians without venom. But the ones that get back what they give out are sobbing in Mommie's aprons, so naturally, they use absolute terms to color the readers'

It's All Right for YOU to Say It

Then the L ORD God said to the serpent:     Because you have done this,     you are cursed more than any livestock     and more than any wild animal.     You will move on your belly     and eat dust all the days of your life . — Genesis 3.14 (HCSB) Buona sera. It's rather amusing when orthodox evolutionists go into damage control and put their "spin" on embarrassing discoveries. After all, we know that evolution is true, that it's an established fact (never mind that it's still called a "theory"), that the Bible is full of hooey. What happens when discoveries make monkeys out of evolutionists? They put on a proud face and change their stories, of course. God cursed the serpent in Genesis 3.14, which is a strong implication that snakes had legs. Guess what, Grover? Fossils of snakes with legs have been found ! That fits in well with the view of Creationists, that species devolve and become less complex. "But it also says that snakes eat d

Parts of the Problem

Edited for clarity 7-20-2011 Buona sera. Does it bother you when someone points out problems but does not offer any solutions? Then prepare to be annoyed because I have no great answers. If, however, you want to compare notes and possibly say, "Yeah! I see that, too!", then you're in the right place. After pondering information from several sources, making mental notes and simply making observations, I am seeing some of the reasons why unbelievers have problems with Christians, and Christianity. Some of it is the fault of the unbeliever, and the believers are not helping matters. First, problems on the part of the unbelievers. Preconceptions. We all have them, don't deny it. If you use a word, it has certain connotations for some people. For instance, if you hear or read the word "church", what image pops into your head? If you have experiences, you may remember smells, sounds, images — and emotions. I think the best way to deal with p
